So, what is your favorite thing about the island?

Yeah, this is a tough one.  There are tons of options with this---the aquamarine water, the sun, the laid back attitude, the animals, the people I've met, my job, my students, the food, the sunsets.....  But, I would have to say that the thing that makes me gasp the most in awe would have to be the stars.  Let me explain...  Take the most beautiful night sky you've ever seen in the USA---and double it.  I live on the Equator.  The stars here are something that is unparalleled.  They are vibrant and intense like no sky I've ever lived under in my life.  I glimpsed stars like these when we were staying on Lake Titicaca in Peru, but this was one night two years ago.

Every night when I walk outside, my soul melts.  They glitter and gleam like a constant reminder that you are merely just a tiny, little speck in this universe.  And, regardless of what religion you are or aren't, it is a feeling so powerful they cause you to wonder if perhaps out there in the vast and great beyond exists a magical place where a magical being has hand crafted each molecule of this amazing, amazing place where we live.  Would be fantastic wouldn't it....  I guess someday we'll all find out.
